What does botulinum toxin do?
It restricts the movement in your muscles which cause the lines and wrinkles to appear in the first place. Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by bacteria and it has been used successfully in non-surgical procedures for many years.
It smooth’s away any wrinkles created by movement, especially on your forehead or around your eyes and in the corners of your mouth.
What is the procedure?
You don’t actually need an anaesthetic because the procedure is painless. However, if you feel more comfortable having the area frozen then a topical anaesthetic can be applied. The botulinum toxin is then injected into the muscles in your face, where you have the lines.
It is a very quick procedure and should take around 10 or 15 minutes.
Is there any bruising?
It is possible clients can experience some swelling and bruising, which will be temporary. Try not touch the area which was treated for a least few hours, so that the botulinum toxin doesn’t spread into other muscles.
How long will it last?
The procedure lasts around 4-6 months. In order to keep the lines at bay, you will need to have regular injections, about every 4-6 months. If you choose not to have this treatment again, it will not have any adverse effects on your skin, you will just develop normal lines and wrinkles.
