Tear Trough

Frequently Asked Questions

How is it administered?
Firstly, we apply a topical anaesthetic which is a strong numbing cream to your under-eye area. The Tear trough area is painless but we apply the numbing cream so that the needle itself doesn’t cause discomfort and we want you to feel comfortable throughout the procedure. The fillers are then injected into the appropriate areas and flattened into place provide the natural look you require.

When will I see the results?
You won’t see the real results of your tear trough treatment for a couple of days, as the procedure does leave the under-eye area a little swollen, but once the swelling has reduced you will see the difference. The area should be left to heal for at least 24 hours after the injections in order to prevent infections. After this time, you can use your usual creams etc, if you wish.

How long do fillers last?
It will normally last between 4 -12 months. Although each person is different, some will find it doesn’t last the full 6 months. This can be caused by smoking, fast metabolism and regular exercise.

Is there any time when I shouldn’t use dermal filler for tear trough treatment?
You shouldn’t use dermal fillers when you are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Although the dermal fillers we use don’t migrate through the body, there are no studies to show the effects on an unborn or feeding child. Medically it is recommended that cosmetic procedures aren’t carried out at this time.

Are there any side effects?
There will also be some swelling which might last a couple of days. There might also be some bruising where the injection was given and it may be slightly painful or itchy. However, the discomfort should only last a few days. If you’re worried about after effects please don’t hesitate to call us or book a consultation where we can answer all your questions.
